Privacy Policy

How CharZy collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Draft — needs legal review. This document is original copy, structured around what a power bank rental operator in Jordan needs to cover and referencing Jordanian law and Amman jurisdiction. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the fees and operating practices described must be checked against what you actually do. Remove this notice once it has been signed off.

Introduction

This policy explains what personal information CharZy ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use our power bank rental stations, mobile application and website, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.

We operate from Abdali Boulevard, Amman, Jordan. If you have a question about this policy or about how your data is handled, write to us at hello@charzy.net.

Information you give us

Account details: your name, mobile number, email address and, where you create one, your account credentials.

Payment details: payments are handled by our payment provider. We receive a payment token and the last four digits of your card. We never store full card numbers on our systems.

Support correspondence: the content of messages you send us, including through the app, email or WhatsApp, so we can investigate and respond.

Information collected automatically

Rental records: which station you rented from, which unit you took, the start and end times, where you returned it, and the resulting charge.

Device and technical data: device model, operating system, app version, IP address, crash reports and diagnostic logs.

Usage data: which screens you open and which features you use, so we can see what is working and what is not.

Location data

If you grant permission, the app uses your approximate location to show nearby stations and to give directions to a station with a free bay.

You can withdraw this permission at any time in your device settings. The app continues to work without it — you simply search for stations manually instead.

We do not track your location in the background when you are not using the app.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the site to function, together with analytics that help us understand how the site is used.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking non-essential cookies does not prevent you from using the site or renting a power bank.

How we use your information

To provide the service: unlocking units, tracking active rentals, processing returns and billing you correctly.

To support you: answering questions, investigating failed rentals and issuing refunds where appropriate.

To operate the network: monitoring station stock and hardware health, and planning where to install new stations.

To prevent fraud and protect the system: detecting abuse, non-return patterns and fraudulent payments.

To improve the product: analysing aggregated usage to make the app and hardware better.

To communicate with you: service messages about your rentals, and marketing messages only where you have opted in.

Sharing your information

We share data with payment processors in order to take payment, and with hosting, mapping, messaging and analytics providers who process it on our instructions under contract.

Venue partners who host a station receive aggregate reporting only — how many rentals their station generated. They never receive information identifying who rented.

We may disclose information where we are required to do so by law, by a court, by the public prosecution or by a competent Jordanian authority, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. Where there is an immediate risk to someone's safety, we may disclose what is necessary to address it.

We do not sell your personal data.

Cross-border transfers

Some of our providers host data on infrastructure located outside Jordan. Where personal data is transferred abroad, we take steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard consistent with this policy and with Jordanian law, including by contract with the provider.

Data retention

Account data is retained while your account is open and for a reasonable period after closure. Rental and payment records are retained for as long as required for accounting, tax and audit purposes, which may mean they survive the deletion of your account. Diagnostic logs are kept for a short rolling window and then deleted.

Some records cannot be deleted on request because we are legally obliged to keep them. Where that applies, we will tell you.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on access-controlled infrastructure, with access limited to staff who need it.

No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, and we will notify you and the relevant authority of any breach that materially affects you.

Your rights

You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, ask us to delete data we no longer need, object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@charzy.net. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within a reasonable period.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by email before they take effect, and the effective date below will be updated.

Governing law and contact

This policy is governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the courts of Amman shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.

For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact us at hello@charzy.net or write to us at Abdali Boulevard, Amman, Jordan.
