Terms of Service

The rules that apply when you rent a power bank from CharZy.

Draft — needs legal review. This document is original copy, structured around what a power bank rental operator in Jordan needs to cover and referencing Jordanian law and Amman jurisdiction. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the fees and operating practices described must be checked against what you actually do. Remove this notice once it has been signed off.

Contractual relationship

These terms form a binding agreement between you and CharZy ("we", "us", "our"), operating from Abdali Boulevard, Amman, Jordan. They govern your use of our power bank rental stations, our mobile application and our website.

By renting a power bank — whether through the app or by scanning the code on a station — you confirm that you have read these terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement and that the information you give us is accurate.

Scope of services

CharZy operates a network of self-service stations that dispense rechargeable portable power banks for temporary use. We provide the platform and the hardware; we do not sell the power banks except where a replacement fee becomes payable under these terms.

Station availability, stock levels and network coverage change constantly. We show live availability in the app as a convenience, but we do not guarantee that a particular station will have a unit available or a free bay at any given moment.

Accounts and registration

Some features require an account, which needs an active mobile number that can receive verification messages. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that takes place under your account.

You must give accurate registration details and keep them up to date. We may suspend or close accounts that contain false information.

Closing your account does not extinguish any outstanding balance, fee or obligation accrued before closure.

SMS and notifications

By registering you agree to receive service messages by SMS, push notification or email. These include verification codes, rental confirmations, return confirmations, billing notices and reminders that a rental is approaching its limit.

Service messages are a necessary part of the rental and cannot be switched off while you hold an active rental. Marketing messages are separate and can be turned off at any time in the app or by using the unsubscribe link.

How a rental works

A rental begins the moment a power bank is released from a station and ends when it is fully seated in a return bay and the station confirms the return. Pushing a unit into a bay without receiving confirmation does not end the rental.

A single rental runs for a maximum of 24 hours. After that the rental enters a grace period of 24 hours during which you should return the unit.

You may return a power bank to any station in the network, not only the one you rented from.

Fees and payment

First 15 minutes free. After that, rentals are charged at 0.50 JOD per 30-minute block or part thereof.

Charges are capped at 3 JOD in any rolling 24-hour period. All fees are stated and charged in Jordanian Dinars.

A refundable deposit of 3 JOD may be held against your payment method when a rental starts. It is released once the unit is returned, less any fees actually incurred.

We accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa and Mastercard. The prices shown at the station and in the app at the time of rental are the ones that apply. If a payment fails we may suspend your ability to start new rentals until the balance is settled.

Late return, loss and damage

If a power bank is not returned by the end of the grace period — that is, 48 hours after the rental began — the unit is treated as lost. The rental closes and a replacement fee of 25 JOD becomes payable. The power bank then belongs to you.

If you locate and return a unit shortly after a replacement fee has been charged, contact support within seven days and we will review the charge and refund it where the unit is returned in working order.

You are responsible for the power bank while it is in your possession. Deliberate damage, disassembly, tampering or exposure to water may make you liable for the cost of repair or replacement, together with reasonable investigation costs.

Normal wear and tear, and any fault that was present when the unit was dispensed, are our responsibility and not yours.

Inspecting the unit

Please give the power bank a quick look before you use it. If a unit is visibly damaged, swollen, unusually hot or has frayed cables, do not use it — return it to a bay and report it through the app so we can pull it from the network.

Using a unit that is visibly defective, after having had a reasonable opportunity to inspect it, may affect our liability for resulting damage.

Acceptable use

You agree not to open, modify, resell, rent onward or reverse-engineer a power bank; not to use the service to charge damaged or unsafe devices; not to interfere with a station or attempt to remove units other than through the normal rental flow; and not to take any step designed to avoid fees.

You agree not to use the service for any unlawful purpose, and to comply with the rules of the venue hosting the station you are using.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, damage equipment, or attempt fraud, and may pursue recovery of any resulting loss.

Promotional codes

We may issue promotional codes and credits. These are personal to you, carry no cash value, cannot be resold or transferred, and may be withdrawn or expired at any time.

We may cancel credits and suspend accounts where we reasonably believe a code has been used in error, fraudulently, or in breach of its stated conditions.

Refunds and cancellation

If a station fails to dispense a unit, or dispenses a faulty one, contact support and we will refund that rental in full.

CharZy+ subscriptions renew monthly and can be cancelled at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not pro-rate partial months.

Third-party services

The service relies on third parties for payment processing, hosting, mapping, messaging and analytics. Their handling of your data is described in our privacy policy.

Our stations sit inside venues we do not control. We are not responsible for a venue's opening hours, access rules, or its decision to relocate or remove a station.

Intellectual property

All rights in the CharZy name, logo, hardware design, software, station artwork and website content belong to us or our licensors. Nothing in these terms transfers any of those rights to you.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app and the service for their intended personal purpose, which ends when your account closes.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Our power banks are designed with over-current, over-temperature and short-circuit protection and are tested before deployment. Even so, the service is provided on an "as is" basis and we do not warrant uninterrupted availability at any particular station.

You remain responsible for how you use a unit and for the devices you choose to connect to it. We do not provide insurance for your devices.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or in connection with a rental is limited to the amount of the fees paid for that rental. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against reasonable losses, claims and costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of a power bank or station, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access where you breach these terms, where we suspect fraud or unlawful use, where a payment remains unsettled, or where required by law or a competent authority.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including fees owed, liability limits, indemnity, intellectual property and governing law — continue to apply after your account closes.

Changes to these terms

We may amend these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the amended terms.

General

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. A failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right.

We may assign or transfer our rights under these terms, including as part of a corporate transaction. You may not assign yours without our written consent.

These terms, together with our privacy policy, form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

We ask that you contact us first so we can try to resolve any dispute amicably. Failing that, the courts of Amman shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from the interpretation, application or performance of these terms.
